Privacy policy

Who we are

MyWing (“MyWing”, “we”, “us”) makes the MyWing app for iPhone and Android and runs this website, mywing.app. You can reach us about anything on this page at privacy@mywing.app.

Because this version of the app keeps your information on your device and never sends it to us, we don’t receive or hold your memories. Where this policy says “MyWing stores”, it means the app on your phone, not a server of ours.

What stays on your phone

Everything you give MyWing, and everything it works out from it, is stored in the app’s private storage on your device:

• What you send it — text you type or dictate, links, photos and anything shared to MyWing from another app.
• What it understands — the people you mention, facts like “loves jazz” or “birthday May 14”, date ideas, places, and the details fetched for a link.
• What you do with it — plans, “How was it?” answers, how you responded to a resurfaced idea (“Exactly”, “Too early”…), and your Ask history.
• Your settings — quiet hours, how many reminders a day you allow, app lock, and your 18+ confirmation.

Understanding (who a note is about, what a date means) happens on your phone. None of it is sent to us.

What we don’t collect

• No account, email address, phone number or name.
• No copy of your memories, photos or plans on any server.
• No analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and no advertising identifiers. (Two optional features are the only exceptions to “nothing leaves your phone”, and only if you turn them on — see Crash reports and Reading text in photos.)
• No contacts, messages or calendar. “Add to calendar” hands a plan to your calendar app; MyWing never reads your calendar.
• No location. This version of MyWing does not use your location.

We don’t sell, rent or share personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Link previews

When you save a link, MyWing fetches that page directly from your device to read its title, description, image and details such as a place’s address or opening hours. The request goes from your phone to the linked site; it does not pass through us.

As with any web visit, the linked site sees your IP address and a request identifying itself as MyWing (about that request). MyWing sends no cookies with it, only fetches public web addresses over HTTPS, and stops after a small size and time limit. The linked site’s own privacy policy applies to what it does with the request.

Photos, voice and text in images

• Photos you save are copied into MyWing’s private storage, resized, and have their location metadata (EXIF/GPS) removed before they’re stored. MyWing does not save to your photo library.
• Text in images (a menu, an address in a screenshot) is read on your device using your phone’s built-in text recognition.
• Voice is turned into text by your phone’s speech recognition. MyWing asks your phone to do this on the device where it supports it; depending on your phone and its settings, Apple or Google may process the audio under their own terms. MyWing doesn’t keep the audio.

Notifications

Resurfaced ideas, reminders for dates that matter and “How was it?” check-ins are local notifications: the app schedules them on your phone. There is no push server, and nothing about them is sent to us. You can set quiet hours and a daily limit, and choose to hide notification previews on your lock screen.

Reading text in photos (Android, optional)

On Android, MyWing can read the text in photos you save — a menu, a screenshot of an address — so it understands them better. This is off until you say yes, the first time you save a photo or in Settings → Privacy & security.

It runs entirely on your phone using Google’s ML Kit. Your photos and their text never leave your phone. Google’s ML Kit does send Google anonymous information about how it performs (such as device and app details, timing and error codes). If you’d rather avoid that, leave the feature off — everything else in MyWing works the same. On iPhone, MyWing uses Apple’s built-in text recognition, which sends nothing.

Crash reports (optional)

If MyWing crashes, a crash report helps us fix it. Sending them is off by default. Nothing is sent unless you turn on Send crash reports in Settings → Privacy, and you can turn it off again at any time.

When it’s on, crash reports are processed for us by Google, through Firebase Crashlytics. A report contains:

• technical details of the crash — the stack trace (which part of the app’s code failed) and the exception;
• information about the device and app — device model, operating system and version, app version, memory and disk space;
• random identifiers Crashlytics creates for the installation, so repeated crashes can be grouped.

Crash reports never include your memories, the people you’ve saved, photos, links, plans or anything you’ve typed, and MyWing doesn’t attach an account, name or email (there isn’t one). As with any internet request, Google’s servers see your IP address when a report is sent. We don’t use Google Analytics or any advertising identifier. Firebase Crashlytics keeps crash reports and their identifiers for 90 days before deleting them. Google’s own terms for this are in the Firebase privacy and security documentation.

When you share something

Some things can be shared if you choose — a plan invite, or a card of things you remember about someone. MyWing composes it; you pick the app to send it with, and you send it. That app’s terms apply to what you send. MyWing never shares anything on its own.

Your phone’s own backups

MyWing has no backup of its own. Your phone’s system backups are separate and controlled by you: MyWing’s data is encrypted with a key that never leaves your phone, so it is excluded from Google’s cloud backup and from phone-to-phone transfers on Android, and from iCloud and computer backups on iPhone. To move to a new phone, use Settings → Your data → Export and then Import on the new phone.

Backup & sync (future)

We may later offer an optional “Back up & sync” feature so your memories can move with you to a new phone. It will be off unless you turn it on. Before it ships, we will update this policy to say exactly what is stored, where, for how long, and how to delete it — and the app will explain it before you switch it on.

This website

mywing.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising pixels; its security policy blocks third-party scripts. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. The site’s fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser also connects to Google’s servers to fetch them.

Export, delete and your rights

• Export: Settings → Your data → Export everything gives you a file of everything MyWing remembers, plus your photos.
• Delete: Settings → Your data → Delete everything erases it all from the app and cancels every reminder. Uninstalling MyWing also removes its data from your phone.
• Correct: anything MyWing understood can be edited or moved in the app.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, and to complain to a data protection authority. Since your MyWing data is on your device, you can exercise these directly in the app. For anything else, email privacy@mywing.app and we’ll respond within 30 days.

18+ only

MyWing is for adults 18 and older and is not directed at anyone under 18. The app asks you to confirm you’re 18 or older before you use it. If you believe someone under 18 has contacted us, email privacy@mywing.app.

Security

MyWing’s data sits in the app’s private storage, protected by your phone’s own sandboxing and encryption. You can add an app lock (Face ID, fingerprint or your device passcode), hide notification previews, and hide MyWing’s content in the app switcher. Anyone who can unlock your phone and open MyWing can see what’s in it, so the app lock is worth turning on.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we’ll update the effective date above. If a change affects what leaves your device, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and anything new will be opt-in.
